Cyberbullying News Report

A news report is being planned for the Newsround website about Cyber Bullying.  The reporters may have chosen to write this because of Anti-bullying week, an event that we discussed a few weeks ago.

Here is an illustration of Mauna Kea, a Hawaiian Island Mountain (a volcano mountain). Most of it is underwater, with the peak at the top forming the island!

Star Wars - an Adventure Story with many CONTRASTS!

6W started to investigate Star Wars (The original film from 1977 of course - not the newer ones) and thought about how the film borrowed ideas from different genres of text such as Comedy, Sci-Fi, Adventure and Mystery.

We also talked about how the film-makers had used lots of contrasts to show differences in characters and changes in settings and emotions during the film - especially during the scene illustrated above!

We discussed how anything created by an author could be a text - a poster, a painting, a photo, a song, a film, a novel, a comic...

Many members of the class listed interesting examples of texts in many genres.

Perhaps we shall watch some more this week before writing our own adventure story!

Welcome to Our Blog!

Hello.  I thought it would be a good idea to put all of our crazy ideas to good use by starting a class blog! Leave a comment if you have any ideas about items to include.  What would you like to read? What would you like to write?  Book reviews? Film reviews? A classroom diary? Topics to discuss? Subjects you have learnt about? Don't forget to think about audience and purpose, otherwise the Audience Apricot and the Purpose Penguin won't be happy!  Look at them, they're a bit upset already!

You guys had better watch out for these two!
